Ryan Hill v. MO DOT (DEPT. OF TRANSPORTATION) and Defendant (AS SEEN ON FOX2)

Type Of Claim: Ryan Hill was involved in a high speed tragic automobile accident. He was traveling eastbound on Dunn Road near the I-270 West entrance ramp just west of West Florissant. At that time a vehicle entered his lane jumping out from behind a stopped car. The other driver was attempting to enter the I-270 west entrance ramp.
Damages: The Plaintiff suffered severe injuries including a fractured clavicle, heart laceration and severe liver laceration. Plaintiff recovered from his injuries and returned to his job.
Arbitration / Judgment: Plaintiff settled with the other driver for his $100,000 policy. He then pursued a claim against MODOT for creating a dangerous traffic condition. Plaintiff was awarded an arbitration award against MODOT for $375,000. This story was featured in several news reports. Judgment was entered and there is now a record putting the State of Missouri on notice that this ramp is a dangerous condition. There are many other similar ramps in the north county I-270 corridor.
